YURI VAN GEENEN is a Dutch/American photographer based in The Netherlands who studied photography at the Photo Academy in Rotterdam and specializes in documentary photography, street photography, and portraits. The majority of his work centers around everyday people and places, and his observations of them. They often have loneliness or some form of detachment in common. He aims for uncovering the extraordinary within the ordinary. He is traveling through Europe, working on a variety of projects, and in the Spring of 2014 he is planning to do a documentary project in the southern region of the United States.
