EARNIE GRAFTON was a staff photographer for the Union-Tribune in San Diego, California, from 1999-2014. A retired U.S. Marine, Earnie covered the invasion into Afghanistan with the Marines in 2001 and the invasion of Iraq in 2003. In addition to covering San Diego wildfires, he covered Hurricane Katrina in 2005. He is a graduate of the Military Photojournalism Course at S.I. Newhouse School of Communications, Syracuse University. His work has garnered numerous awards including the National Press Photographers Association’s Military Photographer of the Year in 1994. He is currently a faculty member for the DoD Worldwide Military Photographers Workshop.
