June 7, 2023, New York, New York, US: The hazy Coney Island skyline in New York during poor air quality due to windblown smoke from the Canadian wildfires. Authorities urge people to wear masks, all outdoor activities for school children were canceled, as well as the regular baseball game at Yankee Stadium between the Yankees and the White Sox. Many activities in city parks were also cancelled. Public schools in the Five Boroughs canceled all outdoor activities and New York Mayor Eric Adams warned people with respiratory conditions and others vulnerable to smoke, including children and the elderly, to stay indoors as air quality levels hovered around ”unhealthy” levels.
