April 22, 2024, New York, New York, USA: Students at NYU began a Gaza solidarity encampment this morning on Gould Plaza in the Washington Square campus. Tents sit on the plaza. Students stand with Columbia University students’ ongoing encampment and join colleges and universities across the country staging encampments for Gaza. Student protesters demand that the university divests from profiteering from the Israeli genocide of the Palestinian people, that NYU shut down its Tel Aviv campus, remove NYPD from the NY campus, and protect the right to pro-Palestinian speech by students and faculty.
