September 15, 2024, New York, New York, USA: Demonstrators create a memorial at City Hall Park laying posters on the sidewalk with pictures and names of people who have been arrested and killed in Iran during the repression of the women-led uprising. A poster reads ‘SCHOOL ZONE DANGER ZONE THEY KILL STUDENTS HERE Islamic Republic of IRAN.’ The organization Woman Life Freedom NYC organized a vigil on Mahsa Jina Day to commemorate the second anniversary of Mahsa Jina Amini’s death. Amini, 22 years old, died in the custody of the police in Iran after her arrest for violating the mandatory headscarf law.
