November 21, 2024, Hong Kong, China: In Hong Kong, China PLA Navy Amphibious Assault Ship, pennant number 31 HAINAN anchored at the Western pier on Hong Kong Island on Thursday. China PLA Navy Amphibious Assault Ship HAINAN and Destroyer CHANGSHA visit Hong Kong for 5 days. HAINAN is the lead ship of Type 075 Landing Helicopter Dock of the PLA Navy commissioned on 23 April 2021, one of the newest and the largest Amphibious Warship of the PLA Navy which is capable of carrying nearly 30 helicopters of various types. The sudden visit of HAINAN and CHANGSHA indicate China PLA Navy’s demonstration of power in the region amidst territorial dispute over South China Sea with Philippines.
