September 27, 2025, Namakkal & Karur, Tamil Nadu, India: Tragedy struck during an election campaign of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) led by actor-turned-politician VIJAY, speaking, as 36 people lost their lives in a stampede at the event. Prime Minister and President expressed their condolences over the incident, mourning the loss of lives. The Tamil Nadu Government has announced an ex-gratia of ₹10 lakh each to the families of the deceased. Authorities are monitoring the situation closely while further investigations are underway.
