February 8, 2026, Milan, Lombardy, Italy: American superstar figure skater ILIA MALININ, 21, (USA) performing his legendary version of the ‘BONALY Flip’, a dramatic back flip started and named after French skater, Surya Bonaly, who famously landed it on one blade at the 1998 Nagano Olympics, when it was still forbidden. Malinin has brought the move back to mainstream attention, becoming the first to land it legally in the Olympics. Ilia nicknamed the ‘Quad God’, is also know for resurrecting the backflip. The flip was successfully completed on Feb. 8, 2026 at the 2026 Winter Olympics Men Single Free Skating competition at the Milano Ice Skating Arena.
