June 20, 2020, Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA: After President Trumps Rally in Tulsa a large group of protesters assembled just steps away from the BOK Center. The peaceful demonstration was met with hoards of police and a swarm of pepper bullets. As th police retreated from the raucous crowd the protesters decided to move back to the Greenwood District, and Black Wall Street, the site of the 1921 race massacre in Tulsa. Upon arriving back in Greenwood the protesters were met by a DJ that happened to be playing on Black Wall Street. The large crowd of demonstrators, made of many different races and backgrounds celebrated one anothers differences and danced into the early morning hours. They spoke of how Trumps rally was divisive and exclusive, but their rally in Greenwood was all inclusive and how they would defeat hate with love. The beautifully organic moment where time seemingly stood still for the protesters was filled with love, and celebration for they felt that they were winning this battle by not engaging in hate.

zReportage.com Story of the Week #742: TUESDAY June 23, 2020 : BLACK COWBOYS are REAL by photographer Forest McMullin. ZUMA Press photographer Forest McMullin is a photographic educator based in Atlanta, GA. As McMullin learned more about the history of Black Rodeo in the US, his intention morphed from pure curiosity to a firm belief in the rodeo’s mission of bringing attention to the history of the black West. ‘The history of African American cowboys and their role in settling the West isn’t that much different from the history of other African American groups and it’s been largely ignored by historians and the media, the fact is that African Americans made up roughly 25 percent of the cowboys responsible for the historic movement west.’ The Southeast Rodeo Association is committed to keeping the cowboy way of life and upholding the important contributions the African American Cowboys played in helping tame the Old West.
