January 3, 2023, HONG KONG, CHINA: In Hong Kong, mother and her daughter walking pass closed shutter of main entrance to the High Speed Rail terminal at the Kowloon Station. As the Covid-19 outbreak on the China Mainland is rampant in various provinces, Hong Kong is taking a cautious measure not to open main port of Lo Wu at the China-HK boarder on 8th of January this year, which would allow China Mainlanders to be transported directly into the city centre by MTR train system. December 29, 2022, Hong Kong, China: In Hong Kong, customers inside a local restaurant watch recorded news footage of HKSAR Chief Executive John Lee at yesterday’s press conference announcing lifting of all Covid-19 restrictions, starting today 29th of December 2022. Proof of vaccination is no longer needed to enter key venues, such as, restaurants, theatres, concert halls, museums, government headquarters and hospitals etc. The move is being widely interpreted as HKSAR’s initiative to accommodate reopening of Hong Kong-China boarder scheduled for 8th of January next year, when, influx of shoppers from China Mainland is expected.
