zReportage.com Story of the Week #790: TUESDAY June 15, 2021: ‘TARGETED’ by Tampa Bay Times investigative reporters Kathleen McGrory and Neil Bedi wins the 2021 Pulitzer Prize for Local Reporting: Florida’s Pasco County sheriff Chris Nocco took office in 2011 with a bold plan: to create a cutting-edge intelligence program that could stop crime before it happened. What he actually built was a system to continuously monitor and harass Pasco County residents, a Tampa Bay Times investigation has found. First the Sheriff’s Office generates lists of people it considers likely to break the law, based on arrest histories, then sends deputies to find and interrogate anyone whose name appears, often without probable cause, a search warrant or evidence of a specific crime. They swarm homes in the middle of the night, waking families and embarrassing people in front of their neighbors. In just five years, Nocco’s signature program has ensnared almost 1,000 people, with at least 1 in 10 were younger than 18. Some of the young people were labeled targets despite having only one or two arrests. One former deputy described the directive ‘Make their lives miserable until they move or sue.’ Welcome to: ‘TARGETED’

Fashionable woman walk past large light box advertising delayed premier of Chinese Mainland’s War Movie THE EIGHT HUNDRED in Hong Kong, an epical photo play based on the historical fact of Republic of China’s tough resistance against invading Japanese Army and total sacrifice of 800 remaining soldiers who fought at the last stand resisting the invading Japanese Force during 1937 BATTLE OF SHANGHAI. The war epic, THE EIGHT HUNDRED was originally scheduled for national premier in July 2019, but shortly before the premier in June 2019, Chinese Communist Party’s Department of Propaganda announced that the MOVIE have encountered certain ‘technical problem’ and therefore unable to meet the original scheduled date of national premier. Many believe that CCP tried to downplay heroic episode ( a legend ) of National Party Army’s tough resistance against invading Japanese Army during the BATTLE OF SHANGHAI in 1937. Political censorship on Chinese Mainland is becoming much tighter under the rule of Xi Jin-ping’s Regime seeking to unify ideology so as to stabilize continued authoritarian rule of Chinese Communist Party and Xi Jin-ping’s dictatorship.

zReportage.com Story of the Week #789: TUESDAY June 8, 2021: ‘OUTBREAK Taiwan’ by award winning Taiwan based ZUMA Photographer Daniel Ceng Shou-Yi: After almost 18 months of nearly unblemished success keeping the coronavirus pandemic at bay, including the world’s longest streak of case-free days, Taiwan is now in the grip of its first major COVID-19 surge. Taiwan was among the first places to ban foreign visitors almost as soon as China reported the emergence of the virus, and the tough border restrictions still remain in place. Locally however, the population started to become complacent, as did its government. Hospitals stopped aggressively testing people for Covid. Taiwan’s outbreak is now proving to be a test of whether a society relatively untouched by COVID-19 can effectively put to use the lessons the rest of the world learned the hard way. The 750,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses the United States has promised Taiwan will be flown in soon, President Tsai Ing-wen said on Monday, as measures to tackle an outbreak that has not yet stabilised on the island were extended. Welcome to ‘OUTBREAK Taiwan’
