“The image was taken during the 2017 Silent Parade in NYC.  In the image one sees a photo of the late Kalief Browder who, as a teen, was incarcerated in Rikers Island due to the inability of his family to post bail. After three years, the charges were dropped, but Browder eventually succumbed to psychological damage and depression due to the violence and solitary confinement.  His story eventually led to massive changes in the NYC incarceration system. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kalief_Browder ” – Sachelle Babbar
