October 6, 2026, Clermont-Ferrand, France: High school students demonstrate in the streets of Clermont-Ferrand as part of a nationwide student movement demanding increased resources for France’s public education system. Students have called for more teachers and staff, smaller classes and improved conditions in school buildings, while demonstrators also voice opposition to the far-right Rassemblement National (National Rally) party. The protest comes amid weeks of student mobilizations across France. In Clermont-Ferrand, authorities moved classes online at public and private high schools on October 5 and 6 and prohibited demonstrations immediately around school buildings.
