Fewer than 100 new Ebola cases have been diagnosed in the last week of counting, the World Health Organization says. The response to the epidemic has now moved to a second phase, as the focus shifts from slowing transmission to ending the epidemic. To achieve this goal as quickly as possible, efforts have moved from rapidly building infrastructure to ensuring that capacity for case finding, case management, safe burials, and community engagement is used as effectively as possible. The average ebola fatality rate is around 50% climbing as high as 90% in past outbreaks. The first EVD outbreaks occurred in remote villages in Central Africa, near tropical rainforests, but the most recent outbreak in west Africa has involved major urban as well as rural areas. For the first time since the week ending 29 June, 2014, there have been fewer than 100 new confirmed cases reported in a week in the 3 most-affected countries. A combined total of 99 confirmed cases were reported in the week to 25 January: 30 in Guinea, 4 in Liberia, and 65 in Sierra Leone.

Surrounded by her FAM… Her last 12 hours, Proud and doting Mama Kelly, bro Jeremy, uncle Gav and uncle Stan and the amaZing wonderful set of loving and dedicated specialists and techs at So Cal Veterinary Specialty Hospital. Special thanks to Dr Berry & Dr Aubrey who extended her life… Time and again!!! and were there for her all the way to the end…

KONA was a exceptional lover.
She had a rare spirit.
KONA felt no evil or harm on anyone. Pure love! Always.
The world needs more Kona’s

Courageous to a fault. Battled a life threatening ruptured disk and Won! Mass cell tumor cancer. Chronic active hepatitis and early stage renal failure.

If you ever experienced her unconditional love and lack of malice for anyone, you know, what a bright light she was.

Zen Princess KONA, even found unconditional love and trust in her toddler bro Liam as he banged yet another big car toy on her and then hugged her. Sean her middle bro would be a wonderful source of countless snacks 24/7. Older bro Jdog would make her perk up just by entering the room.

She had a score of friends and admirers.
An Einstein among smart Labs and beautiful princess … Her coat was unparalleled and people always stopped us to ask about it and she always was smiling and a glow…

Her legacy will live on… After all how many black labs have a top notch photojournalism gallery named after them. Always the happy greeter , she loved the openings.

A republic of California grrrl , born at Mt Shasta and never left her homeland, yet explored it from top to bottom.

She went with me 24/7 with me, when I was in Cali. ZUMA HQ everyday, after all she was my boss and cafes even a nite club occasionally.

No one can replace her!
But I am lucky to have known her and had her bright light shine on me:)
