ZUMA Video: Berlin Police Officer Punches Woman in Face at Pro-Palestinian Protest

A Berlin police officer punches a woman twice in the face during an unregistered pro-Palestinian protest, leaving her bloodied. The unauthorized rally drew a heavy police response in central Berlin on Thursday, August 28, 2025, with officers detaining several demonstrators after clashes near the Rosenthaler Strasse Apple store. The gathering had been promoted on social media as an act of civil disobedience. Dozens of participants unfurled banners reading “Boycott Israel” and “Forever Taeterland,” a term referencing Germany’s Nazi past, while chanting “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free” and “We want 48, we only want one state.” Police, some with dogs, moved in to disperse the crowd, pushing protesters down the street. Several people were injured in the scuffles and detained. Berlin has seen a series of unauthorized pro-Palestinian demonstrations since the Hamas attacks on Israel in October 2023, with authorities frequently banning gatherings that they fear could spill into antisemitic agitation. Thursday’s protest was among the latest to highlight tensions over Germany’s role in the Middle East war.

Dhaka, Bangladesh: On August 27, 2025, cleaning work was underway at the deep tube well located at the water pump on Salimullah Road in Mohammadpur. The local children seemed to be having endless fun. Taking advantage of the opportunity, city auto-rickshaw drivers were also washing and cleaning their vehicles. Many pedestrians passing by wanted to stop and join the fun, but lack of time kept them from doing so.

Scott Mc Kiernan Presents zReportage.com Issue #1002 Story of the Week: Published TUESDAY August 26, 2025: ‘Victory High: Teen Addicts Second Chance’ Photography by ZUMA Partner newspaper The Tampa Bay Times award winning photo-journalist Jefferee Woo and story by Pulitzer winning writer Lane DeGregory: At Tampa Bay’s Victory High, newly sober students get a second chance. ‘What do you want?’ the counselor asked the teens. ‘Not today or tomorrow. For the rest of your life?’ ‘I want to be a therapist,’ offered a boy in a backwards ball cap. Another longed to travel. ‘Like, go to Alaska or maybe Hawaii.’ A girl cocooned in a blanket stayed silent. ‘OK,’ the counselor said slowly. ‘And getting there all depends on?’ The students studied the floor, then one spoke softly. ‘Staying sober.’ Victory High is the only school in Florida where students have to have done drugs to get in. Most come right out of rehab, after becoming addicted to alcohol, overdosing, shooting heroin. After passing out in parking lots and waking in emergency rooms. Trying to kill themselves. All before they were old enough to buy a beer. Welcome to ‘Victory High: Teen Addicts Second Chance’
