Tens of thousands gathered in the German capital on Sunday, June 22, 2025, for the final day of Mary Jane Berlin, the world’s largest cannabis expo and festival, which wrapped its 2025 edition with record attendance, a booming exhibitor presence, and growing industry momentum amid shifting European cannabis policies. Held at Messe Berlin from June 20 to 22, the event drew over 60,000 visitors from around the globe, offering a multi-sensory experience that blended business, culture, music, and activism. Organizers said this year’s edition was “bigger than ever,” featuring more than 500 exhibitors showcasing everything from vaporizers and CBD cosmetics to advanced cultivation technologies and medical cannabis solutions. The expo opened Thursday with a business-to-business (B2B) industry day, followed by a three-day public festival combining exhibition halls, outdoor relaxation zones, and live music performances from artists including Haiyti, Samy Deluxe, and WizTheMC. U.S.-based cannabis influencers, such as Koala Puffs and Dope As Yola, also made appearances, drawing large crowds to talks and meet-and-greets.
June 21, 2025, Berlin, Germany: More than 10,000 demonstrators gathered in Berlin on Saturday, June 21, 2025, to protest Israel’s military operations in Gaza and Germany’s continued arms exports to the Israeli government, with some protesters chanting slogans in support of Hamas and the Palestinian intifada, prompting concern among German officials and Jewish advocacy groups. Marchers carried Palestinian flags and signs reading “Stop the genocide,” while some held red-stained peace symbols and placards demanding an immediate end to weapons shipments to Israel. But the demonstration, organized under the banner “United for Gaza,” also included extremist rhetoric. Protesters chanted, “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free,” as well as “We want an intifada!” At least one protester was seen waving a white Taliban flag bearing the Shahada, a symbol associated with jihadist movements. Chants of “Hamas! Hamas!” also broke out within parts of the crowd. The German Chancellor has defended Israel’s military actions as a response to terrorism and reaffirmed Berlin’s commitment to its ally. But critics, including leftist political factions and Muslim advocacy groups, argue that Germany’s stance disregards the humanitarian toll on Palestinian civilians.
