June 8, 2025, Berlin, Germany: Thousands lined the streets of Berlin’s Friedrichshain district on Sunday, June 8, 2025, as the city hosted the 27th annual Karneval der Kulturen (Carnival of Cultures), a vibrant street parade celebrating cultural diversity, inclusion, and artistic freedom. More than 4,500 participants from 69 cultural groups marched, danced, and drummed their way from Frankfurter Allee at Proskauer Strasse toward Alexanderplatz, ending at the historic Kino International along Karl-Marx-Allee and Berolina Straße. Event organizers estimated crowd numbers could reach as high as 650,000 over the day. This year marked a notable change: for the first time in its nearly three-decade history, the parade moved away from its traditional Kreuzberg and Neukoelln route. Founded in 1996, the Carnival of Cultures takes place annually over the Pentecost weekend and has grown into one of Berlin’s largest open-air festivals.

June 10, 2025, Los Angeles, Ca, USA: Photojournalist Amy Katz (unseen) accidentally walks into an area where protestors and media have been detained, and detain her. This is in front of the Roybal Federal Building, which is the center of focus for the protest in down town LA. This was at the very start of a curfew most did not hear about. (The Police loud speaker was garbled). Police and National Guard are displaying a big show of force, and it is confusing where one can walk once the police block the street entrances with their bodies.

June 10, 2025, Los Angeles, Ca, USA: Anti-Ice Protests continue on June 10, 2025 in front of the Federal Building at 300 N. Los Angeles Street where U.S. National Guard members (sent by Trump, against the will of the California Governor and LA City Mayor) are lined up guarding the front doors. A young child stands on a car as adults wave flags. Thousands of peaceful protestors who had marched through the streets returned here and stayed until they were dispersed by Police at curfew, fascinated and disturbed by the presence of the Guard.
