VERNON L. GOWDY III became interested in concert photography while attending school at the University of Oklahoma. He became a Staff Photographer for The Oklahoma Daily during his college years and later served as Staff Photographer for JAM magazine in the late 70’s and early 80’s. His work has recently been published in Sammy Hagar’s autobiography ”RED” which was a New York Times Bestseller where he had the good fortune of a back cover photograph and a full page photograph inside. That same photograph had been used in the past in Rolling Stone, Creem, Circus, Song Hits and T-shirts worldwide. Other books include Pat Benatar’s autobiography ”Between a Heart and a Rock Place,” which included three of his photographs, ”One Train Later,” by Andy Summers of The Police included his work on back cover, and photographs in books by Rick Springfield and Styx. He has published several photography books, including: ”Adventures of a Rock Photographer” and Adventures of a Rock Photographer Ð Part 2”, and the Rocklahoma coffee table books since the festival began in 2007.
