The US recorded more stops along the Mexico border in Fiscal 2022 than in any year in the 20-year history of the Department of Homeland Security, with three months still to go, beating out the 1.7 million arrests record made in 2021. Worsening economic conditions post-pandemic, violence, political instability and climate-related displacement have contributed to the high number of individuals migrating, along with the promise of jobs in the USA.
