December 29, 2022, Hong Kong, China: In Hong Kong, customers inside a local restaurant watch recorded news footage of HKSAR Chief Executive John Lee at yesterday’s press conference announcing lifting of all Covid-19 restrictions, starting today 29th of December 2022. Proof of vaccination is no longer needed to enter key venues, such as, restaurants, theatres, concert halls, museums, government headquarters and hospitals etc. The move is being widely interpreted as HKSAR’s initiative to accommodate reopening of Hong Kong-China boarder scheduled for 8th of January next year, when, influx of shoppers from China Mainland is expected.
