
August 26, 2024, Merritt Island, Florida, USA: A SpaceX Dragon spacecraft sits atop a Falcon 9 rocket on launch complex 39A of NASA’s Kennedy Space Center ahead of the scheduled Polaris Dawn launch on August 26, 2024, at Merritt Island, Florida. The Polaris Dawn crew will spend five days in orbit aboard the Dragon spacecraft to reach the highest Earth-orbit altitude, farther than any astronauts have flown since Apollo 17. Crew members Mission Specialist Anna Menon, Pilot Scott ‘Kidd’ Potent, Commander Jared Isaacman, and Mission Specialist Sarah Gillis will also perform the first privately funded spacewalk.
